The Ligue 1 crown will remain in Paris Saint-Germain’s care for at least another year provided they French monolith bags at least a draw at home to Angers on Saturday. Luis Enrique’s men head into Week 28 sat 21 points clear at the top of the table with only seven games left to play, meaning a draw or better this weekend would give the club an unassailable lead over second-place Monaco. That reality seems all but guaranteed given what’s at stake and the fact PSG has won its last 17 straight encounters with Angers, who hasn’t celebrated a win in this fixture since 1975.

PSG will have taken mixed messages from their midweek win over second-tier Dunkerque, which in turn earned the capital club a spot in the final of the Coupe de France.

On the one hand, the 4-2 win was yet another illustration of the firepower possessed by Enrique’s side, who are now looking to get their hands on the trophy for the eighth time in 11 years.

At the very least, the opening half-hour of that matchup will have inspired hope for Angers that PSG can be exposed, even by a team from a division below.

And it’s not as though Alexandre Dujeux’s team aren’t without motive of their own, currently sat 14th in the table and just three points off the relegation play-off place.

That should inspire Les Noirs et Blancs to chase a much-needed upset at the Parc des Princes, though the hosts will be expecting fireworks come the end of their encounter.
