Lille has a chance of moving into Ligue 1’s top four with a home win over Lens. Watch the game live and for free on Fubo today.

Just six points separates second from seventh in Ligue 1 as Lens travels to Lille on Sunday hoping to bag a third consecutive win and move further into the European qualification picture. The Blood and Gold sits eighth in France’s top flight having endured a horrific stretch of form throughout February, but Will Still’s men now appear to be rediscovering their best following back-to-back wins. That being said, Lille has taken a grip of this fixture in recent years and gone undefeated in the last five meetings between the two teams, including two wins from as many encounters at the Decathlon Arena.

Only three other teams in Ligue 1 have proved more effective on home soil than Lille so far this season, with leader Paris Saint-Germain joined by Monaco and Nice in that exclusive club.

That being said, Lens boasts one of the best travelling records in France this term and has picked up 22 points on the road compared to just 17 in front of its own fans.

While Still & Co will be seeking more of the same after the international break, the pause perhaps came at a good time for Lille after losing two straight games.

Star striker Jonathan David recently hinted once again at a potential exit from Lille after scoring the winner in Canada’s 2-1 victory over the Unites States on Sunday:

Les Dogues have managed to win just one of their last five in all competitions and appear to have lost much of the lustre that saw them record just four losses across their first 30 games this campaign.

Compare that to the return of seven defeats over their last 13 games (including penalty shootouts), and the severity of their slump becomes that much clearer.

It’s possible the four-time Ligue 1 champions will still finish fourth or higher to book a place in next season’s Champions League, though Lens will consider itself more than capable of raining on that parade.

Regional restrictions may apply.
