Georgia will head on the road to Gainesville, Florida to take on No. 7-ranked Florida at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium in the first game of the college softball NCAA Gainesville Super Regional on Friday morning. The 34-21 Bulldogs came out of the Durham Regional, winning two of three games against Duke to win the championship. They lost to Arkansas 5-1 in the SEC Tournament before heading into postseason play. They opened the Durham Regional against Coastal Carolina with a 6-3 win before sandwiching a loss to Duke with two wins.

Lilli Backes has been the best pitcher for Georgia this year, close with Randi Roelling. The senior is 15-10 this year with a 3.54 ERA and 144 strikeouts over 146.1 total innings. Junior Jaydyn Goodwin, Georgia’s left fielder, is batting .344 to lead the team. She also has a team-high 11 home runs and 45 RBIs this season.

The Gators finished their season with a 46-14 record overall and a 14-10 record against SEC teams. They lost to Ole Miss in their first game of the SEC Tournament, 6-3, before heading into the Gainesville Regional. They opened up their hosted regional with an 8-0 win over Mercer before beating Florida Atlantic massively, 14-6. In the championship game of the regional, they took down Mercer again in an 8-0 shutout.

Ava Brown, a sophomore, has been the best on the mound for Florida. She has a 2.59 ERA and 11 wins in 11 starts. In 31 appearances, she has 56 strikeouts over 97.1 total innings. Right fielder Taylor Shucker leads the team at the plate, batting .387. She has a team-high 21 home runs and 83 RBIs on 74 hits in 191 at-bats.
