Kenta Maeda and the Detroit Tigers will take the mound against Ryan Pepiot and the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night.

The Detroit Tigers will stay on the road taking on the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field in the second game of a three-game series in St. Petersburgh, Florida on Tuesday night. The Tigers lead the series 1-0 after winning last night 7-1. Tarik Skubal picked up the win as the starting pitcher going 6.0 scoreless innings allowing just three hits with nine strikeouts. Detroit opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with a 392-foot home run from Mark Canha, the second batter in the lineup. Javier Báez added to the score with an RBI single in the second inning followed by a run from Báez later that inning on a throwing error. Báez scored again on an error in the fifth inning to make it 4-0 followed by Canha hitting an RBI single to add to the lead. The last two runs for Detroit were scored by a homer from Parker Meadows and an RBI from Kerry Carpenter. The Rays only run came in the bottom of the eighth inning with a home run from Jose Caballero.

Kenta Maeda will get the start for Detroit in this second game of the series. He is 0-1 this season with a 7.64 ERA and 12 strikeouts over 17.2 innings. He went just 2.2 innings in his last start which ended in a 9-7 loss against the Texas Rangers. He allowed five of the seven earned runs on seven hits with just two strikeouts.

Tampa Bay will give the nod on the mound to starting pitcher Ryan Pepiot. The right-hander is 2-2 this season with a 4.37 ERA on 15 hits with 27 strikeouts over 22.2 innings. The former LA Dodger allowed one earned run on three hits over 6.0 innings in a win against the LA Angels. He had seven strikeouts in that win.
