Jeeno Thitikul takes a 2-shot lead into the final round on Sunday at TPC River’s Bend near Cincinnati

Jeeno Thitikul got her lead back to two strokes with a birdie to finish her third round on Saturday. Thitikul, a 22-year-old who won earlier this year, gave away two shots with bogeys on the 16th and 17th before the closing birdie, is two shots better than Lydia Ko and three shots clear of Yan Liu. Ko automatically qualified for the LPGA Hall of Fame with her victory at the Paris Olympics last month and is ranked No. 3 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking.

Thitikul earned her third career LPGA Tour victory in June at the Dow Championship and would vault from 11th to sixth in the Race to CME Globe standings if she closes out the victory on Sunday. The winner earns 500 points in the Race along with $300,000 of the $2 million purse for the tournament.

Albane Valenzuela and Haeran Ryu share fourth place at 12-under-par, four shots back,. with Hyo Joon Jang, Lindy Duncan, Stephanie Kyriacou, Bianca Pagdanganan and Jasmine Suwannapura all tied for sixth at 11-under. Defending champion Minjee Lee made the cut but is well out of contention at six-under-par. World No. 1 Nelly Korda lurks six shots back in a tie for 11th.

Valenzuela came to Cincinnati riding a wave of momentum after becoming the first Swiss player to play in the Solheim Cup last weekend. Jing Yan and A Lim Kim, tied for 11th, shared the low round of the day on Saturday with six-under-par 66s, along with Esther Henseleit, who came into the day at one-under and jumped up the leaderboard into a tie for 23rd.
