Camilo Villegas needs a strong finish to climb into the top 125 in the FedExCup Fall standings as he arrives at Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton Parish, Bermuda, on Thursday to open defense of his Butterfield Bermuda Championship title. Villegas is currently 194th on the list but still has a year remaining on the two-year PGA Tour exemption he earned with his victory here in 2023. The 42-year-old has five career Tour victories, but just one since 2014. Villegas tied the tournament record score of 24-under-par a year ago, matching the mark set by Brendon Todd in the inaugural event in 2019.

The stop in Bermuda is the seventh of eight events on the PGA Tour’s FedExCup Fall schedule, with event winners earning two-year exemptions on the Tour. The top 50, determined at the Tour Championship in August, are locked in for next year’s PGA Tour and all Signature events. Players finishing the fall schedule between 51st and 60th earn Tour cards for 2025 and entry into the season’s first two Signature events, the Pebble Beach Pro-Am and Genesis Invitational, while those 61st through 125th earn full Tour status.

Austin Eckroat won last weekend at the World Wide Technology Championship in Mexico and will not be in the field in Bermuda. Seven of the players ranked between 51-60 are playing, led by Mackenzie Hughes (51st). Others in that group include Maverick McNealy (53rd), 2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship winner Séamus Power (54th), Patrick Rodgers (55th), Nick Taylor (57th), Ben Griffin (58th) and Kevin Yu (60th), who won the Sanderson Farms Championship last month.

Nico Echavarria, who won earlier in the fall, comes to Bermuda in 61st placce and Lucas Glover is in 62nd. Those on the outside of the top 125 playing this weekend include Dylan Wu (126th), S.H. Kim (127th), Wesley Bryan (128th) and Kevin Tway (129th). The winner earns $1.242 million from the $6.9 million purse for the event.
