The first round of the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship tees off with multiple top 10 golfers in the field today.
The 2024 Wells Fargo Championship is off to a rough start as inclement weather has delayed the start of the first round today. The action is still scheduled to get started today with defending champion Wyndham Clark in the field. Clark looks to become the first golfer to win this tournament in back-to-back years and just the third to win multiple titles here. Max Homa, the 2022 champion has two wins (2019, 2022) and Rory McIlroy has three wins here (2010, 2015 and 2021). All three are in the field this week along with the 10 of the current top 12 in the FedEx Cup Standings this season.

This is another warm-up for the field heading into the PGA Championship later this month. Scottie Scheffler captured the first major of the season and will not be in action here this week opening up opportunity for Clark, Xander Schauffele and Sahith Theegala who are ranked second, third and fourth in the FedEx Cup Standings heading into today.
The other top 12 golfers in the field this week are Hideki Matsuyama, Chris Kirk, Byeong Hun An, Matthieu Pavon, Patrick Cantlay, Collin Morikawa and Shane Lowry all looking to win their first Wells Fargo Championship while climbing up even higher in the standings this season.
Heading into the first round the betting favorites to win the Wells Fargo Championship are McIlroy (+650), Shauffele (+1000), Clark (+1400) and Cantlay (+1800). Other names to watch in this loaded field include Justin Thomas, Tommy Fleetwood, Cameron Young, Viktor Hovland, Will Zalatoris, Tony Finau and more at the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship this week.
