The IHSA Class 2A Tournament Championship Game is between top-seeds Dyett and Althoff Catholic.
Another championship game in the IHSA boys basketball tournament is a showcase between top-seeds from their sectionals. Top-seeded Althoff Catholic (31-5) routed their opponents in the State Semifinals and punched their tickets to the IHSA Class 2A Tournament Championship Game. Shortly after that top-seeded Dyett (26-7) won a much more competitive semifinal to set the final match of the season. The Crusaders have been on a path to this game all season. They finished the regular season ranked 12th overall in Illinois basketball and lost just one game in conference play. Now they are just a win away from becoming state champions.

Throughout the playoffs the Crusaders have been on a mission winning all three games in the Super Sixteen by double-figures. They have routed teams by 38 combined points. Heading into the championship game the Crusaders have won six straight games to close out the regular season and playoffs.
For the Eagles this season they are ranked 48th in Illinois and have won six straight themselves. The journey to the championship game has been significantly different with the Eagles winning three straight games by a combined nine points.
They took out three top-seeds from their sectionals in the Super Sixteen in Leo (44-43), BHRA CO-OP (40-36) and finally Manual (54-50) in the State Semifinals to earn their way into the championship. That has sharpened and hardened the Eagles to go against arguably the best overall team in the tournament.
