West Field High School in Taylor, Utah will host Mountain Crest High School, who is representing Hyrum, Utah, on Thursday.
West Field High School is coming off its first win of the season after a tough start to the year. The Longhorns lost their first four games of the season with two of them coming in blowout fashion. That was especially the case in West Field’s first game of the season when it got shutout against Green Canyon on the road 35-0.
The resilience that this team showed last week though was truly impressive. The defense had been the issue for West Field in its first four games, but it dug deep and were the reason the Longhorns won, beating Logan High School 27-14. It helped that quarterback Hinckley Keele had a strong day, throwing for 150 yards and two touchdowns and one interception. The team will need to replicate this formula and being at home should help this team win back-to-back games for the first time this season.

Mountain Crest is going to be a tough opponent though and has proven so far that it is the better team. The Mustangs are 3-2 on the season but are coming off a loss to Sky View. It was Mountain Crest’s toughest loss of the season, taking a loss to the Bobcats on the road 31-28. Sky View shutout Mountain Crest in the first quarter and were leading 17-7 at half. The Mustangs pulled within three by the third quarter but that early deficit was just too much to ever fully come out of. The main focus for Mountain Crest tonight is to get off to a much quicker start.
