Boston College has not won a Beanpot Championship since 2016. These two played very recently, on Jan. 30, when Boston University hosted No. 13 Boston College, but Boston University was beaten convincingly, 4-1. The Eagles cruised to victory by getting up 3-0 before the Terriers got on the board. Andre Gasseau, James Hagens, and Dean Letourneau each had a goal and an assist, while Brady Berard also reached the back of the net. Louka Cloutier was tremendous in goal for the Eagles, stopping 33 shots. BU Jack Harvey scored his ninth goal of the season, but it wasn’t nearly enough to keep up with BC. BU comes into this 300th meeting with a 13-13-2 record, while Boston College is 15-9-1.

Since beating BU in the 299th meeting, BC has beaten Harvard 5-1, but is trying to bounce back from a lopsided 6-1 home loss to Vermont. The Eagles had won four in a row before falling to the Catamounts. James Hagens scored the lone goal for the Eagles, while Lukas Gustafsson and Ryan Conmy each had an assist on the play. Gustafsson shot one from the blue line and was tipped by Hagens to avoid the shutout. BC got within 2-1, but the Eagles could not score the rest of the game.

BU has played two overtime games since its last game against BC. They first won in a shootout against Northeastern at TD Garden, then beat No. 18 Maine 3-2 in overtime at home. Freshman Ryder Ritchie scored just 1:42 into overtime to play the hero for BU. Jack Murtagh scored the first goal of the game for the Terriers to even the score at 1-1. Boston University got down again, but Sophomore Cole Eiserman scored with under five minutes left in regulation to force overtime. Expect a much closer game between BU and BC than the 299th rendition of the Beanpot Championship.
