The first meetings of the year came back in mid-December. That was a home-and-home split with Colorado College winning the first game 5-4 and then Denver winning the next game 2-1.

Colorado College was off last weekend. In they Tigers’ last action two weeks ago they faced St. Cloud State. the Tigers won the first game 4-3 then lost the second game 4-2.

Meanwhile, Denver faced St. Cloud State last weekend. That series was also a split with the Pioneers winning the first game 3-1 then losing the second game 2-1.

This game has playoff implications in the NCHC. Denver is trying to hold onto the fourth spot in the conference standings, with the top four seeds getting home ice advantage in the first round of the conference tournament. The Pioneers enter the weekend with 39 standings points, tied with fifth-place No. 18 North Dakota. The Fighting Hawks play Omaha this weekend.
