In an AHA college hockey matchup on Friday night, Mercyhurst takes on RIT in the first of two games between the teams this weekend.

In college hockey on Friday night, Mercyhurst (4-24-4, 4-17-3) visits RIT (15-15-4, 8-10-2) at the Gene Polisseni Center. It’s the second weekend series between these teams this season, with the first one coming all the way back in mid-October in what was the first conference games of the year for both teams. Those two games were split, with each team picking up a 4-2 win. Mercyhurst won the first game with junior forward Barrett Brooks (one goal, one assist) and sophomore defenseman Trent Sambrook (two assists) each picking up two points. Sophomore goalie Simon Bucheler made 31 saves in the win.

The Tigers came back the next day with a 4-2 win of their own. Junior forward Simson Isabelle scored two goals in that game, while graduate forward Nick Cafarelli and freshman defenseman Tristan Allen each had two assists. Freshman goalie Jakub Krbecek made 31 saves for the Tigers.

RIT comes into this matchup after a successful weekend at home last weekend. The Tigers shut out American International 3-0 in the first game, then played to a 3-3 tie the next game before winning in a shootout.

Mercyhurst was on the road last weekend at Holy Cross, which is in first place in the AHA. The Lakers lost both of those games falling 7-3 and 4-1.
