Michigan looks to pick up the two-game sweep of rival Michigan State on Saturday night

The Michigan Wolverines takes on the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday night in Detroit. The Wolverines took down the Spartans 2-1 on Friday night in the first game of the series. The Spartans struck first with a Karsen Dorwart goal at 8:43 in the first period, but T.J. Hughes answered just a minute and a half later to tie the game. The game remained tied until Garrett Schifsky scored with just 57 seconds left to give the Wolverines the win. The two teams split the first series of the season back in January. The Wolverines won the first game in overtime, but lost 4-1 in the second game. Saturday they will look avoid the same fate and pick up a huge sweep of the second-ranked team in the country. The win on Friday pushed the Wolverines record to 16-11-2 overall and 10-8-1 in the Big Ten. They sit in fourth place in the conference standings with 28 points. They are three points back of Ohio State and four points up on Wisconsin.
