In-state rivals meet on the ice on Friday night, when No. 5 Minnesota visits Minnesota Duluth in non-conference action.

There’s rivalry action on Friday night’s college hockey slate, as No. 5 Minnesota (1-1-0, 0-0-0 Big Ten) visits Minnesota Duluth (1-2-0, 0-0-0 NCHC) at AMSOIL Arena. This will be the 169th meeting in the series – one of the oldest outside of the Northeast. Minnesota leads the all-time series 135-85 with 18 ties. Minnesota won one of two matchups last year – a 5-1 game in Minneapolis – with the other being a tie. Before that it was Minnesota Duluth that was on a roll, winning four meetings in a row and going 12-1-1 over the previous decade. Which team will have the upper hand on Friday night, in the first of two games between the two teams in Duluth this weekend?
