Heading into this weekend Sacred Heart (7-5-2) is playing its best hockey of the season. The Pioneers are on a six-game stretch without a loss going 5-1-0 overall. This stretch started with a five-game winning streak where the Pioneers outscored opponents 21-11. This streak will be tested against Holy Cross (5-8-1) who are desperate for wins. The Crusaders are coming off a season-high tying five-goal game in just their fifth win of the season. Consistency has been the challenge for the Crusaders this season only winning two games in a row once. These are the final two games between the teams this season with the first two split on the Crusaders home ice.

In the first game between the teams the Crusaders held their home ice in overtime to pick up their third win of the season. The Pioneers jumped out to a one goal lead in the first period and held that into the third, where Jack Stockfish tied the game and then Liam McLinksey won it in overtime.

Then, in the second game the very next day the Pioneers evened up the season series with a 2-1 win in regulation. Stockfish put the Crusaders up one goal in the second period before Felix Trudeau tied things up in the same period and Reid Pabich sealed the win in the third period.

Since the teams played the Crusaders have lost five of seven games with an overtime loss. The Pioneers on the other hand have gone 6-1 overall with an overtime win. Last season the Crusaders won three of four games against the Pioneers and look to replicate that this weekend to close out the season series.
