How to Watch UMass at Northeastern: Stream College Hockey Live, TV Channel

UMass and Northeastern return to Hockey East play on Friday, meeting each other in the first conference action for both of these teams since the New Year’s break.

The Hockey East returns to conference play this weekend for the first time since the New Year’s break. There are five matchups on the slate on Friday night, including an in-state contest between UMass (9-8-2, 2-5-2) and Northeastern (6-9-3, 1-6-3 at Matthews Arena in Boston. This is the first of two games between these two teams in a home-and-home this weekend, with the action shifting to Amherst on Saturday.

Both teams have played a couple of non-conference games since the break. UMass had an exhibition against Simon Fraser just before New Year’s, then last weekend took part in the Desert Hockey Classic in Arizona. They lost against No. 16 Cornell 4-2 in the first game out in Tempe, then beat Robert Morris 8-0 last Saturday in what is their most recent game.

Northeastern also took part in a showcase out of the break, facing off in the Ledyard National Bank Classic in New Hampshire in the last weekend in December. The Huskies lost 3-1 to Providence in a non-conference game, then beat the University of Alaska Anchorage 4-3 in overtime. Last Saturday the Huskies visited No. 18 Quinnipiac and came away with a 5-1 win.

This will be the first meeting between UMass and Northeastern this year. Last year the Minutemen won both meetings 2-1, with the game in Boston ending in regulation and the meeting in Amherst in overtime.
