Value City Arena is set to host the exciting weekend matchup between Ohio State and Wisconsin on Saturday in college hockey action. The two teams face off on Friday night in Columbus, where the Buckeyes topped the visiting Badgers 4-1. For the third game in a row, Ohio State gave up the first goal of the game. Jack Horbach’s shot got through a screen and in at 17:10 of the first for a 1-0 Wisconsin lead. The Badgers carried their lead until less than five minutes remaining in the second. Ohio State had a five-minute major power play at 5:19 of the second, but was unable to convert the opportunity. At 15:36 a Damien Carfagna shot deflected off Riley Thompson and in to tie the game at one. Gunnarwolfe Fontaine picked up the second assist.

With the teams skating four-on-four late in the stanza, Carfagna took a pass from Nathan McBrayer and skated into the Badger zone and behind the net. His wraparound was saved but Joe Dunlap was able to beat his defender and put the rebound home at 19:29 for a 2-1 Ohio State lead.
The Badgers outshot the Buckeyes 9-6 in the first period and 14-6 in the second.
Finally, in the third and with the teams again four-on-four, Fontaine scored from the high slot for a 3-1 Ohio State lead. Chris Able and Davis Burnside assisted on the goal.
For the game, the Badgers outshot the Buckeyes, 38-21. Terness played all 60 minutes and had 37 saves. UW starter Anton Castro had 11 saves on 14 shots in 42:10. Tommy Scarfone played in relief and stopped the six shots he faced in 12:55.
