Nurse notched a hat trick and Spooner added a goal and an assist, as Toronto thumped New York 6-2 on Sunday afternoon on Long Island. Toronto scored the first six goals of the game to pick up its second straight victory.
Minnesota fell to 0-3-0 since returning from the international break last month, dropping a 2-1 decision to Boston in its home-ice finale on Saturday. Kelly Pannek gave Minnesota a 1-0 lead with 1:10 left in the second period before Boston got the equalizer 1:42 into the third. Boston knocked in the game-winner with just three seconds left in regulation.
Minnesota won the first meeting between the teams on Jan. 19, before Toronto bounced back to win the next two matchups, getting a 4-1 win at home on Feb. 3 and claiming a 4-3 overtime victory on Feb. 27 at Minnesota.
