Jelena Ostapenko and Alizé Cornet will face off on Philippe-Chatrier Court on Thursday to wrap up the second round of the 2022 French Open. Ostapenko advanced to the second round after defeating Lucia Bronzetti in two sets on Tuesday in the first round. Cornet, meanwhile, did the same against Misaki Doi and advanced to the second round for the first time since 2020.

Ostapenko, just like Cornet, was eliminated in the first round of the 2021 French Open after falling to No. 4 ranked Sonya Kenin in three sets. The 24-year-old Latvian professional won the French Open in 2017, defeating Romanian Simona Halep in the final, becoming the youngest woman to do so since 1997.
Alizé Cornet will look to advance to the third round of the French Open for the first time since that tournament that Ostapenko won in 2017, where the French 32-year-old made it to the fourth round before losing to Caroline Garcia in three sets.
