Las Águilas have won their last six straight meetings with Los Camoteros, who travel to Mexico City hunting their first victory at the Estadio Azteca in just short of a decade.

The expectations are for Solari & Co. as the manager chases silverware in his first Apertura campaign in Mexico, but it’s worth noting the Real Madrid legend has been handed a soft start this season. It was only a fortnight ago that América began their season with a disappointing 0-0 stalemate at Querétaro, and a late winner from Alvaro Fidalgo was all that saw them past Necaxa last time out:

Puebla will be hoping to pounce on any sign of weakness as they chase their first win of the campaign, and a result in the capital would go a long way in lifting spirits at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc. Like compatriot Solari, manager Nicolás Larcamón is also looking to establish himself as a young, Argentinian coach in Liga MX, making this a rivalry of sorts between the two South Americans.

Unlike Solari, Larcamón doesn’t boast the same playing resumé of his counterpart in the other dugout, but he can nonetheless prove his pedigree with an unlikely result at the Azteca. It’s been more than three years since Puebla last sealed a win of any kind over América, while they haven’t downed the Eagles on their own soil since October 2011.

Alejandro Tabo scored Puebla’s only goal of the season with a 90th-minute equaliser at Monterrey in Week 1, and the forward should return in Mexico City after his celebrations led to a swift sending off. América will feel confident in breaking the lines of a team that’s yet to keep a clean sheet thus far in the Apertura, but all the pressure is on Saturday’s hosts as Puebla look to prove problematic.
