Boston is dealing with a lot of COVID issues right now, with nine players in the league’s health and safety protocols, including star Jayson Tatum. While he’s the only starter currently on the list, key backups like Dennis Schroder and Josh Richardson are set to miss this game.
The Celtics lost to the Bucks 117-113 on Christmas Day, with Jaylen Brown scoring 25 points and Robert Williams adding 11 points and 14 rebounds. With Tatum out, both players will be crucial if the team wants to get a win and get back to .500 on the season.
As for Minnesota, the team has all of its normal starters sidelined for Monday’s game, with Patrick Beverley, Anthony Edwards, D’Angelo Russell, Karl-Anthony Towns and Jarred Vanderbilt all out.
The team does have Malik Beasley, who scored 33 points in a loss to the Jazz on Dec. 23. He’ll likely be joined in the starting lineup by Jaden McDaniels, Jake Layman and Naz Reid again. The fifth spot, which Russell held last game, will likely be occupied by Jaylen Nowell.
This is the first of two meetings this season between these two teams.
