We're about to see what $6 Billion dollars gets you for a new stadium in Inglewood, CA. The first impressions are a space station landed in Southern California right next to the airport. When the Los Angeles Rams host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, it will be the first game ever played in SoFi Stadium home of the Rams and Los Angeles Chargers. How will the unveiling go to a stadium vacant of fans?
Neither of these large-market franchises met expectations last year with the Cowboys being an average club in the muddling NFC East and the Rams had an extended hangover after their Super Bowl drubbing a year earlier where they didn't even make it back to the playoffs. The Cowboys are trying to correct course with a new head coach in former Packers coach Mike McCarthy. The Rams have very little money to sign free agents, let their franchise running back walk and traded their best receiver in Brandin Cooks. This is all on Jared Goff's shoulders now.

Where the Rams subtracted, the Cowboys added in the 2020 draft with, most notably, receiver CeeDee Lamb in arguably the most loaded draft at that position ever. Theoretically this is easily the best team in the NFC East, especially with an improved defense. But they have been that way for awhile.
On paper they have the talent with a franchise QB, excellent back field and receiving corps but they have finished average really at best in the Jason Garrett era leading to his departure in the offseason. McCarthy was largely responsible for developing Aaron Rodgers into one of the game's best QBs. His job will depend on doing the same for Dak Prescott.

Prescott has always had the talent but he has really improved his leadership on and off the field. He is leading by example by speaking openly about his anxiety and depression after the death of his older brother. He also pledged $1 million in the offseason to help fight racism.
If Prescott is able to combine that leadership with an reinvigorated offense, this team may be a sleeper to go deep into the playoffs. McCarthy said he has learned how to innovate in today's NFL a year after he was let go by the Packers. Now is the time to prove it and let this team flourish.
