How to Watch Live NBA Finals Game 2: Milwaukee Bucks at Phoenix Suns

The Milwaukee Bucks didn’t even play bad at all in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. They were able to keep it even in the first quarter and somewhat until the half. A big reason for that was limiting Chris Paul to zero points in the first quarter. Giannis Antetokounmpo played seemingly miraculously after he was upgraded from doubtful to questionable right before the game.

In Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals, he hyperextended his knee and it looked like he was going to miss the playoffs and some significant time into next season. Instead, he was aggressive underneath the basket with a respectable 20 points and an astounding 17 rebounds on top of Khris Middleton scoring 29 points to lead the Bucks. So what went wrong for Milwaukee then? Chris Paul woke up out of a slumber. That’s what happened.

Paul was historic. He became the first player with 30 points and eight assists in their Finals debut since Michael Jordan did it in 1991. On top of that he become only the third player in the history of the league that is 36 years or older to score 30 or more in the Finals. Oh yeah, the other two were Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Tim Duncan. Finally he became the fourth player in 15+ seasons to score more 30 or more in back-to-back playoff games. The others were Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.

Paul’s performance inspired his team especially Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton. Between the three of them they scored 81 points which is the most by a trio making their NBA Finals debut since NBA merger. With those numbers, they can stand up to any Big 3 ever including the Paul Pierce Celtics and LeBron era Miami Heat squad. Ayton may have been the most impressive of all of them even though he scored the least amount of points between them with 22 points. He was 8-10 from the field and nearly had 20 rebounds until Paul took away the last one. He would have had a 20-20 game for the first time in the Finals in more than two decades. Ayton said he didn’t care even though Booker and the rest of Twitter was wondering what Paul was doing there at the end.

He probably didn’t think about it and it didn’t matter. This team is making history and that is difficult to slow down no matter who you are. If you’re not directly in the Milwaukee or Phoenix market, it’s difficult to root for someone in this series. There really is no villain and you almost wish both Giannis or CP3 could simultaneously earn their first championship.

For the Bucks to steal one on the road to have momentum going back home, somehow Giannis is going to have to step it up more and this team has to play like they did in the last two games against the Atlanta Hawks when their best player was out. That means Jrue Holiday will need to score more than ten points this time around if they are to keep up with the historic pace of the Suns’ Big 3. He did it when Giannis was out. Can he match that same intensity when Giannis is in the lineup? That will be the difference on who wins Game 2 and really for this entire series.
