How to Watch Live Game 2: Montreal Canadiens at Vegas Golden Knights
There's just no stopping the Vegas Golden Knights lately as they look to keep the pressure on the Montreal Canadiens in Game 2. GETTY IMAGES

It's difficult to imagine there will be a team quite like the Vegas Golden Knights ever again. Really in any sport. Sure, the Seattle Kraken should have a formidable selection of players before they kick off their franchise when next season starts. But even if they assemble a team flawless it can't possibly stack up to the start of this Vegas franchise. Not only have the Golden Knights never missed the playoffs and made the Stanley Cup Finals in their first season but they've made the semifinal round in three of their four years in existence.

The only way they can start off any hotter than the Vegas strip in July is if they take the next step and hoist Lord Stanley's Cup. That seems like a very possible outcome this year as they are the hottest team left in the playoffs. After being five minutes away from being down 3-0 against a Colorado Avalanche that many favored to win it all, they've responded in resounding fashion by winning five straight including the series opener against the Montreal Canadiens.

That game wasn't even close and the Canadiens coming in were the best story in the playoffs. They rallied against the Toronto Maple Leafs down 3-1 in the opening round and then unexpectedly swept the Winnipeg Jets all while having the least amount of regular season points of any team in the playoffs. Maybe the layoff from the Jets to the Golden Knights was too long to keep up that momentum since they got smoked 4-1 in the opener. The news doesn't get better in Game 2 for the North Division representatives as Vegas is still heavily favored at home.

The Canadiens and Golden Knights both have phenomenal goalies in Carey Price and Marc Andre-Fleury respectively. So call that a wash. But Vegas' defense is just leaps and bounds better than Montreal. That doesn't bode well for the Habs offense which needs to step it up tremendously. They didn't score the first goal of the game even though they won the first period. They're going to have to get on the board first if they have any chance of stealing a game in Vegas. They've had a habit of doing that these playoffs as they've scored first in nine of the previous 11 games, winning eight of those games. Vegas is just too good lately, especially at home. They have to replicate their first-period in Game 1 for three periods in this game  to even the series as they dominated time of possession and shots on goal. Even in Vegas, those odds aren't favorable.
