Lopez, in his first season with Atlanta, has posted 18 strikeouts over his first three starts, including a season-high seven against Houston last Tuesday. After spending most of his career with the Chicago White Sox, Lopez made no starts in 2023, serving as a reliever before being dealt to the Angels in July then was claimed off waivers by the Guardians. He appeared in 12 games before signing a three-year deal with Atlanta during the offseason.

The Marlins will counter with Sixto Sanchez (0-1, 6.14 ERA), who will be making his first start of 2024 after appearing in seven games as a reliever for Miami. Sanchez has thrown more than one inning just once this season, but has not allowed a run in any of his last three appearances.

Braves designated hitter Marcell Ozuna leads the league in home runs and RBIs and leads the team with his .326 batting average through 22 games so far this season. Ozuna made his MLB debut with the Marlins in 2013 and was named an All-Star in 2017 before he was traded to St. Louis prior to the 2018 campaign.
