Seattle is currently second in the Western Conference standings with an 11-6 record this season, two and a half games back of Las Vegas for the top seed in the conference. Los Angeles, on the other hand, is seven games off the pace with a 6-10 record this season.

As future Hall of Famer Sue Bird’s retirement tour continues, the Storm start matched the WNBA record for victories in a career as Seattle took down the Washington Mystics 85-71 on Thursday night. Bird scored 12 points in the win, while Jewell Lloyd and Breanna Stewart combined for 41 points as Seattle pulled away from Washington in the second half. 

The Sparks ran into a red-hot Chicago Sky in a 82-59 defeat on Thursday night in Los Angeles. Sky superstar Candace Parker set a WNBA record with her third career triple-double in the win for Chicago. Los Angeles’s Nneka Ogwumike scored a team-high 15 points in the loss. 

Seattle looks to extend its winning streak to three games when the Sparks come to town on Saturday night.
