Phoenix had been navigating the league’s COVID outbreak relatively well, with only Jae Crowder and Elfrid Payton in the league’s protocols.

The Suns are coming off a loss to the Warriors on Christmas Day, which ended a five-game winning streak for Phoenix. Devin Booker was held to 13 points on 26.3% shooting in the loss, while Chris Paul had 21 points and eight assists.

The Grizzlies have five players in the protocols, including key pieces Dillon Brooks and De’Anthony Melton.

After a three-game losing streak, the Grizzlies defeated Sacramento on Sunday 127-102. Desmond Bane scored 28 points on 11-for-19 shooting in the win, while Jaren Jackson Jr. had 21 points but shot just 27.8% from the field.

These teams previously met in November, with the Suns winning 119-94. Booker scored 17 points on the win while Christ Paul added 15 points and 12 assists. Memphis was led in scoring by Ja Morant, who had 26 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. But Jaren Jackson Jr. was the only other Grizzlies player with double-digit points.

Regional restrictions may apply.
