Australian Stephanie Kyriacou scorches Seaview’s Bay Course with first-round 65 to take the lead into the weekend.
Stephanie Kyriacou handled the lengthy front nine of Seaview’s Bay Course in four-under-par. She finished with a six-under 65 to take the lead at the ShopRite LPGA Classic in Galloway, New Jersey, entering Friday’s second round. Jim Young Ko, second in the Race to CME standings, is two shots off the lead.

Defending champion Céline Boutier shot a one-under 70 in the first round and starts Saturday among a group tied for 35th.
The tournament record for the 54-hole format is shared by Annika Sörenstam, who shot 17-under 196 to win in both 1998 and 2005, and Anna Nordqvist in 2016. Sörenstam and Betsy King are the event’s only three-time champions and Nordqvist, Juli Inkster and Stacy Lewis have won it twice.
The Bay Course at Seaview plays at 6,155 yards and most of the distance is on the front nine, which is par-37. The back nine includes three par-threes and par is 34 strokes.
Boutier won by a single stroke last year, firing a final-round 63. Lewis set the tournament record with a six-shot victory in 2014.
Frida Kinhult is second at five under and Ko headlines a group of four golfers at four under.
