Some of the biggest news of this week's tournament didn't even happen on the court. UConn's legendary coach Geno Auriemma returned to the sidelines on Wednesday after testing positive for COVID-19. It's crazy to think about but the team didn't even really need their coach in their first two games opening the tourney. They outscored their opponents, High Point and Syracuse, by 79. Good luck to the Iowa Hawkeyes who square off against the Huskies in the first game of the Sweet 16 of the 2021 Tournament.

The Huskies just have absolutely no problem reloading. The heir apparent to Breanna Stewart for the next greatest Huskie is Paige Bueckers. Somehow there are breakable records at UConn as Bueckers set a franchise record for points scored in a debut with 24. What might be even crazier is that all of this success is continuing without veteran leadership. This team is primarily composed of freshman. This team is going to be here for quite some time.

But let's talk about this Iowa team. Because they deserve it and shouldn't be overlooked. While they were bounced in the first round of the Big 10 Conference tournament by plenty to Ohio State, they obtained a top-20 regular-season ranking only losing six games. The Hawkeyes have a stellar freshman of their own in Caitlin Clark. While Bueckers is as pretty much as well rounded as you can get right out of high school, Clark is a phenomenal scorer. She averaged nearly 27 a game and 41 percent behind the arc. But she can create plays on offense as well averaging just over seven assists a game. This will be the best game of the weekend because it has the ability to be a preview of a budding rivalry of what is to come in the exciting careers of these brilliant athletes. Tomorrow is already here in San Antonio in the 2021 tourney.
