Rookie Jesse Love wins his 3rd pole of the season ahead of Saturday’s Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth
Jesse Love already knows how to start a race from the front. The rookie claimed his third pole of the season ahead of Saturday’s Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 at Texas Motor Speedway, the eighth race on the NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule. The next step for Love, 19, is to finish at the front. Currently fourth in the driver standings, Love has a pair of top-five finishes this season to go with four top-10s. He joined Richard Childress Racing after winning the ARCA Menard’s Series title last year. Defending series champion Cole Custer opens on the outside of the front row, with the Joe Gibbs Racing Toyotas of Taylor Gray and Chandler Smith on Row 2.

Aric Almirola comes off his first win of the season last week at Martinsville, joining Austin Hill and Smith as provisional qualifiers for the playoffs. Hill and Smith lead the series with two wins apiece and Smith comes to Texas with a 35-point lead over Custer in the driver standings.
Hill is 41 points back, followed by Love (76 points) and Justin Allgaier (79 points) to round out the top five. Smith rode to the top of the standings with consistency; he is the only driver on the series with top-10 finishes in all seven starts so far. Six of those were top-fives.
John Hunter Nemechek won at Texas last September when this race was part of the playoff schedule. He now drives full-time on the NASCAR Cup Series and is not in the field for Saturday’s race.
