Arizona and Arizona State meet for the second game of their Pac-12 series on Saturday night.
Arizona State will continue its Pac-12 series against in-state rival No. 19 Arizona on Saturday night at Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium. The first game of the teams’ series resulted in a 3-2 victory for Arizona to bring their overall record to 29-13-1 and their conference record to 10-9. The loss dropped the Sun Devils to 18-23 overall and 2-14 in conference play which keeps them in last place in the Pac-12 standings while Arizona sits in fifth place. With the conference tournament just around the corner, both teams will look to improve their positions for a more favorable spot in the tournament bracket.

Arizona State started the game off with a two-run homer by Kelsey Hall in the first inning to take an early lead. It didn’t last long, however, as Emily Schepp stole second in the second inning and forced a throwing error which scored Blaise Biringer. Later in the inning, Kaiah Altmeyer hit a double, scoring Schepp. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Altmeyer hit a walk off home run to secure the team’s second straight win.
Deborah Jones was on the mound for the Sun Devils, pitching 6.1 innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out three batters. Arizona was led by starting pitcher Brooke Mannon who pitched 1.1 innings, allowing two earned runs and finishing with two strikeouts. Aissa Silva came in to finish the game with 5.2 innings pitched, giving up no earned runs and striking out six batters.Â
