No. 14 Arkansas goes for the series-clinching victory on Saturday against No. 25 South Carolina at Carolina Softball Stadium
No. 14 Arkansas (29-10) improved to 8-5 in the Southeastern Conference on Friday night, winning the opener of their three-game series with No. 25 South Carolina (28-14). The teams go at it again on Saturday at Carolina Softball Stadium in Columbia, with the Gamecocks now 4-9 in SEC play. The Razorbacks, fourth in the SEC race, picked up ground on the three teams in front of them and enter Saturday just two games out of first place. They own a streak of six straight NCAA tournament appearances. South Carolina returned to the NCAA tournament in 2023 for the first time in four years.

Arkansas scored the go-ahead run in the top of the sixth on Friday night when Gamecocks shortstop Brooke Blankenship committed two errors on the same play, allowing Cylie Halvorson to come around from first base. Reagan Johnson slashes .373/.392/.408 with 11 stolen bases while Bri Ellis provides the power with 13 home runs and 42 RBI.
South Carolina went ahead 3-2 in the second on Riley Blampied’s two-run homer but four errors leading to three unearned runs proved to be its undoing. Blampied’s slash line is .306/.383/.470 with a team-best 26 RBI while Kianna Jones leads the team with five home runs.
Alana Vawter, who fell to 12-6 with the tough-luck loss on Friday, has worked a team-high 117 innings for the Gamecocks. She comes in with a 1.97 ERA and 1.05 WHIP. Morgan Leinstock started Friday, working 1.2 innings and allowing all three runs. She leads the Razorbacks with 99.2 innings pitched and is 10-2 with a 1.97 ERA and 1.05 WHIP while striking out 107.
