How to Watch Astros at Nationals: Stream MLB Live, TV Channel

The last-place Houston Astros battle for series victory on Sunday against the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park

The Houston Astros (7-15) staggered out of the gate this season but may be saved by the ineptitude of the rest of the American League West, where none of the five teams holds a winning record entering play on Sunday. The Astros close out their series with the Washington Nationals (9-11) at Nationals Park on Sunday, with the teams splitting the first two games. Houston enters play with four losses in its last five games but received good news on Saturday when left-hander Framber Valdez threw a bullpen session. If all goes well, the Astros could get their opening-day starter back this week.

CJ Abrams hit his team-best sixth home run Saturday and tops the squad with 12 RBI.

Kyle Tucker and Jeremy Peña stroked RBI singles in the seventh to give the Astros a 3-2 lead and Tucker added an RBI knock in the eighth. Jose Altuve slashes .367/.436/.622 and is one of three players on the Houston roster with five homers, along with Tucker and Yordan Alvarez. Tucker’s 17 RBI leads the ballclub.

Rookie left-hander Mitchell Parker (1-0) won his MLB debut on Monday, allowing two runs on four hits in five innings to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers and takes the ball for Washington on Sunday. Christian Javier (2-0) makes his fifth start for the Astros, entering play with a 1.54 ERA and 1.114 WHIP in 23.1 innings.
