The 2 teams on the outside of the Professional Women’s Hockey League playoff picture fight to stay afloat as Boston visits New York at UBS Arena on Long Island on Monday night
Boston (8-8-2, 22 points) is five points out of the final Professional Women’s Hockey League playoff spot with six games remaining on its schedule. It heads to Long Island on Monday night to face off against last-place New York (6-9-3, 17 points), which has lost seven straight games. Only two of New York’s wins have come in regulation and it has taken just 31.5% of its available points in 18 games so far. Boston made a move to punch up its offense, acquiring forward Lexie Adzija from Ottawa last week. She had five goals for Ottawa, more than any player on Boston’s roster.
