Defending gold medalist Canada looks to remain perfect at the IIHF World Championships when it faces Austria on Tuesday
Canada (2-0-0, 6 points) can jump back into the lead in Group A on Tuesday with a regulation victory over Austria (0-2-0, 0 points) at Prague Arena in Czechia. The Canadians, the defending gold medalists at the IIHF World Championships, did not play Monday after going back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday. The Austrians played a similar schedule to open their visit at the worlds. Last year, Austria narrowly avoided relegation to Division 1A, beating out Hungary via an overtime head-to-head victory while finishing 14th. Its last medal at the world championships was nearly 80 years ago, when Austria claimed the bronze medal in 1947.
