The Cardinal take on the Tigers on Tuesday night in the second game of a doubleheader
The St. Louis Cardinals continue their six-game road trip on Tuesday night when they take on the Detroit Tigers. The two teams were supposed to open their series on Monday, but had it postponed due to weather and will now play a doubleheader on Tuesday. The Cardinals come into the series having won three of their last four, but they did lose their last game 4-2 in 11 innings to the New York Mets. The Cardinals will send Steven Matz to the mound in the nightcap of the doubleheader. Matz comes into the day 1-2 with a 5.55 ERA. The Cardinals have lost his last two starts as he has given up 12 combined runs in the last nine and a third innings.

The Tigers have been playing well coming into Tuesday as they took the last two games of their series against the Kansas City Royals and have won five of their last seven games. They came into this series 16-12 on the season and three games back of the Cleveland Guardians for first place in the AL Central.
