Denny Hamlin comes to Martinsville off 2 straight short track wins, with qualifying for the Cook Out 400 set for Saturday afternoon
Denny Hamlin joined William Byron as the only two-time winners on the NASCAR Cup Series this season, taking the checkered flag at Richmond. It was Hamlin’s second straight short-track victory, added to his win at Bristol on St. Patrick’s Day and left the number of drivers provisionally qualified for the end-of-season playoffs at five. Qualifying for Sunday’s Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway is set for Saturday afternoon. Hamlin owns three wins in the spring race on “The Paperclip,” an elongated 0.526-mile oval with little banking. His spring wins came in 2008, 2010 and 2015. Kyle Larson took the checkered flag in the race last year.
