Denver takes on Cornell on Saturday afternoon in the Regional Final of the NCAA Tournament
Third-seeded Denver takes on Cornell on Saturday afternoon with a berth in the Frozen Four on the line. The Pioneers almost didn’t make it, though, as they needed two overtimes to get by UMass in the first round. The win was their sixth in a row, but the most nerve-wracking. The two teams combined for 90 shots, but only three got to the back of the net in the tense battle. Tristan Broz got the game-winner at 12:28 to send the Pioneers one step closer to the Frozen Four. The Pioneers are the third overall seed, but almost saw their season end sooner than they hoped. Saturday they will look to get their seventh straight win and keep their championship hopes alive.
