The doubles championship in the 2024 Charleston Open is down to two unseeded teams in Americans Sloane Stephens and Ashlyn Krueger taking on a pair of Ukrainian twin sisters, Lyudmyla and Nadia Kichenok. On their way to the finals, the Kichenok twins defeated the top-seeded team in the tournament with an epic performance that required two tie-breakers and a back-and-forth third set. Now they move on to the finals against Stephens and Krueger who have survived losing the first set in two straight matches to get to the championship match today.

In the epic semifinal win for the Kichenok twins over top-seeded Nicole Melichar-Martinez it all came down to the final set. The match was electric, going back and forth until they were able to close out the 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (2-7), 13-11 win and get to their eighth doubles final as a team.
As a team the Kichenok have four doubles titles wins and three runner-ups so far as a team. The last time they won a doubles tournament as a team was back in 2022 at the Tallinn Open in Estonia.
For Stephens and Krueger, this is the first time the duo is playing for a WTA doubles championship. Krueger made two finals on the WTA Challenger series, winning one and losing the other. Stephens has not made a doubles final in her career, looking to win the first of her career. This match has the potential to be a great one between two teams that are playing at the top of their game right now.
