The 2024 Charleston Open gets started with the early rounds featuring Shelby Rogers and others today.
The WTA is coming off the Miami Open where Danielle Collins upset Elena Rybakina in the finals. Now the tour shifts gears to the Charleston Open with the early rounds starting today. The field features 64 total contenders all looking to rise to the occasion and win a tournament in the early months of the 2024 season. On the schedule today are nine singles matches and four doubles matches to get the early rounds started. All of the singles matches today are between players unseeded to start the tournament including Shelby Rogers, Caroline Wozniacki and 16 other hopefuls looking to advance into the round of 32.

In what could be the match of the day, Alize Cornet takes on Amanda Anisimova. Those two have the pedigree and talent to make a run this year all the way to the finals to potentially match what Collins just did as an unseeded player here at the Charleston Open.
The round of 64 will continue tomorrow with Collins, Taylor Townsend, Caroline Dolehide, Paula Badosa and others in action to wrap-up the round of 64 and get the second round started. The Charleston Open gives the top players a first round bye allowing top-seeded players to watch the first two days and prepare.
This year the top-seeded player in the tournament is Jessica Pegula, followed by Ons Jabeur, Maria Sakkari, Daria Kasatkina and Beatriz Haddad Maia to round out the rest of the top five that will all be in action against the winners of these matches today and tomorrow to start the second round of the Charleston Open.
