How to Watch Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Practice 2: Stream Formula 1 Live, TV Channel

After consecutive Sprint weekends, Formula 1 returns to its standard schedule with Practice 2 for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix set for Friday

The second free practice for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix roars into action on Friday, the first time since the Japanese Grand Prix in early April that drivers and teams get a full slate of practice runs prior to race day. The last two Grands Prix in China and Miami both featured Sprint races, limiting practice time to a single Friday practice during race weekend. The Formula 1 schedule returns to Imola in northern Italy following the cancellation of the 2023 race after severe flooding in the region left 17 dead and more than 50,000 displaced. Red Bull superstar Max Verstappen won the last two races at the track.

Officially known as Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari — named for Ferrari founder Enzo Ferrari and his son, Alfredo “Dino” Ferrari — Imola possesses two main claims to fame. The first is speed; the course is one of the fastest in F1. The second feature lies in the track’s counter-clockwise design, one of the few race courses in the world run against the clock.

First host to Formula 1 in 1980, Imola remained on the schedule through 2006. During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Imola hosted a one-off race before returning to the schedule in 2021 in place of the canceled Chinese Grand Prix. Imola rejoined the F1 calendar in 2022 and remained since.

After a second-place run in Miami two weeks ago, Verstappen is 33 points clear of Red Bull teammate Sergio Pérez in the driver standings and 38 points ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. Lando Norris, the McLaren driver who earned his first career victory in Miami, stands tied with Carlos Sainz of Ferrari in fourth place, each 53 points back of Verstappen.
