Kyle Larson starts on the pole for the NASCAR Xfinity Series’ 1st road race of the season on Saturday in the Focused Health 250 at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas

After a weekend off, the NASCAR Xfinity Series roars back into action on Saturday for the Focused Health 250 at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. It’s the first of five road races on the schedule this season and Kyle Larson, working overtime this weekend while racing the Xfinity event as well as the NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday, will start from the pole. A.J. Allmendinger looks for his third consecutive win at COTA after taking the checkered flag each of the last two years. The circuit is 3.426 miles long and includes 20 turns. The NASCAR Xfinity Series has run on the track since 2021 with Kyle Busch winning the first race in 2021.

The race covers 46 laps, with the first two stages set for 14 laps each and the final stage pulling in the final 16. Last year’s race went to overtime, with Allmendinger fending off William Byron by 0.853 seconds while leading 28 of the 48 laps. Allmendinger starts on the inside of Row 3 on Saturday.

Shane van Gisbergen, a rookie on the Xfinity Series, starts outside of Larson on the front row. Ty Gibbs and Chandler Smith, who won two weeks ago in Phoenix, make up Row 2, and Sage Karam is outside of Allmendinger on the third tow. Sheldon Creed and Cole Custer comprise Row 4 and Josh Williams and Sam Mayer round out the top 10.

Smith, who has finished in the top five in all four events so far this season, leads Austin Hill β€” who won the first two races of the year β€” by one point in the standings. Custer is 33 points back, followed by Riley Herbst (37 points behind) and rookie Jesse Love (48 points back).
