The Scudetto fate of Serie A champion Inter Milan has long been sealed, but the same can’t be said for Friday’s host, Frosinone, in its effort to salvage top-flight membership beyond this season. Almost one month has passed since victory in the Milan derby granted Inter its 20th Serie A crown in April, though the Nerazzurri have since seen their 28-game undefeated streak in league competition brought to an end. Frosinone, meanwhile, occupies 16th place and sits two points above the relegation zone as things stand, but its place in next term’s competition is by no means assured just yet.

After going unbeaten in Italy’s top flight since September, Inter crumbled to a Serie A defeat at Sassuolo last time out to suggest a hint of complacency may have crept into its form of late.
Simone Inzaghi’s side have lost twice in the league this campaign but have still slipped up against just the one team considering the Neroverdi have now beaten them home and away.
And it was a superb Armand Lauriente strike that proved their undoing on this occasion, with Frosinone hoping to expose the same holes before the season is up:
The Canaries looked destined for the drop before suddenly stringing together some resilient form, going undefeated in six games and keeping clean sheets in four of those.
That surge in success hasn’t been against any old shrinking violets, either, with draws against the likes of Bologna, Napoli and Genoa.
Federico Dimarco and Hakan Calhanoglu scored either side of the break to seal Inter’s fifth win in as many meetings with Frosinone when these teams last faced off in November.
However, Eusebio Di Francesco will be hoping to spur a different response this time around, with his side well and truly in a make-or-break mentality to avoid Serie A relegation.
