Week 2 of the 2024 UFL season wraps up on Sunday afternoon in the nation’s capital. For the final game of the week, the Houston Roughnecks (0-1) visit the D.C. Defenders (0-1) at Audi Field for an inter-division matchup. Both of these teams are looking for their first win of the season. The Roughnecks came close last week, but dropped a low-scoring 18-12 game at home to the Memphis Showboats. The Defenders were also on the road last week, and fell 27-12 to the San Antonio Brahmas.

Despite the loss, Houston’s defense played well last week. The Roughnecks held the Showboats to 226 total yards and 3.6 yards per play, while forcing two turnovers.
On the other side, D.C. is trying to avoid doubling its loss total from last year. The Defenders went 9-1 during the 2023 XFL regular season before the merger, before losing to the Arlington Renegades in the 2023 Championship Game.
