The first round of the 2024 PGA Champions Tour Insperity Invitational tees off in Texas today.
The PGA Champions Tour heads to The Woodlands, Texas and The Woodlands Country Club for the Insperity Invitational. This year’s field features all 10 golfers in the top in the points standings including Stephen Ames, who currently sits at the top of the leaderboard for the season. Ames already has two wins this season and five finishes in the top 10 to snag the top spot in the Schwab Cup rankings. He is coming off a win in the Mitsubishi Electric Classic and looks to make it back-to-back wins in one of the PGA Champions Tours’ most competitive events of the season.

Last year this tournament was won by Steven Alker with a final score of -15 overall. He finished five strokes ahead of the field after shooting under par in all three rounds including bookending the tournament with rounds of six-under to close out as the Insperity Invitational champion.
This event has been held since 2004 with only two players winning the event more than once. PGA Champions Tour legend Bernhard Langer has won the Insperity Invitational an astounding four times in 2007, 2008, 2014 and 2018 while Alker has come out with wins in back-to-back years in 2022 and 2023 heading into this year’s event.
Also in the field this year are the rest of the top 10 in the Schwab Cup rankings with Alker, Paul Broadhurst, Ricardo Gonzalez, Retief Goosen, Alex Cejka, Jerry Kelly, David Toms, Y.E. Yang and Joe Durant are all looking to come out with a strong performance to keep pace with Ames this season.
