Having already been crowned champion of Ligue 1, Luis Enrique’s side are at a crossroads as they look to finally end an agonizing wait for continental gold.
That has, after all, been the overwhelming main goal for the club sine they were taken over by the powers of Qatar in 2011, but an objective that has nonetheless eluded their overlords all this time.
Dortmund couldn’t be much more opposite in its structure, falling under the Bundesliga’s 50+1 rule and possessing only a fraction of the resources available in Paris.
Niclas Fullkrug nonetheless proved David is capable of inflicting damage upon Goliath when the two teams met in Germany last week, scoring the only goal to grant his team a key first-leg lead:
What was perhaps more impressive than that was the fact Dortmund kept the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Ousmame Dembele and Randal Kolo Muani so quiet in a clean-sheet performance.
Enrique will be forced into at least one change for the home leg after France defender Luis Hernandez suffered an ACL injury last week that means his season is over.
Elsewhere, Muani may return to the XI as a starter in place of Bradley Bercola, who failed to set the world alight at the Westfalenstadion.
Terzic, on the other hand, may name an unchanged line-up to the one that excelled last week as the Black and Yellows target a first victory at the Parc des Princes in what will be their fourth visit.
Regional restrictions may apply.
