The Seattle Mariners and Colorado Rockies kick-off their series after a delay with game one today.
After game one of this series between the Seattle Mariners (9-10) and Colorado Rockies (4-15) was delayed, the teams take the field for the first time today. Seattle has won three straight games heading into this series while Colorado has lost five straight games. With another win, Seattle will climb back to .500 this season after a slow start. They are playing as well as any team in the majors right now despite only having 66 runs scored through 19 games, the fourth lowest in the American League. The offense has given Seattle just enough juice to win three games in a row while the pitching and defense have only allowed five total runs during this stretch.

On the mound for Seattle is right-hander Luis Castillo (0-4) who is in search of his first win of the season. Through four starts Castillo has 27 strikeouts in 21.1 total innings pitched while giving up 14 earned runs. He was the catalyst of Seattle’s playoff run last season winning 14 games total and the team’s first playoff win in 21 seasons.
He faces Colorado’s right-hander Dakota Hudson (0-3) who is also in search of his first win of the season. So far in three starts Hudson has 11 strikeouts in 17.1 innings pitched in his first season with Colorado, but a win has eluded him early on in the season in a new uniform.
Colorado has really struggled over the last 10 games going 2-8 overall leading to the worst record in the National League and the worst run differential. Getting back on track behind another solid start from Hudson could be just what the team needs to get back in the win column.
