    On the mound today for St. Louis to pull off the sweep and keep Miami winless is right-handed veteran Kyle Gibson (1-0). He won his first start of the season pitching in 7.0 innings with two earned runs and four strikeouts.

    Max Meyer (0-0) will have all the pressure on him today with the team winless and the young right-hander on the mound. In his first game Meyer pitched 5.0 innings, allowed two earned runs and finished with four strikeouts.

    In the last game, Melendez hit his second home run of the season to get the offense off and running. Through nine games Kansas City has played well on both ends with a plus-17 run differential scoring 39 runs and allowing just 22 runs to opponents to start the season above .500 through nine games.
