Miami will take the field at English Fiel at Atlantic Union Bank Park in Blacksburg, Virginia, for the second game of a three-game series this weekend against Virginia Tech, an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent. Heading into this three-game series, the Hurricanes are 21-26 overall this season with an 8-16 record against teams in the ACC. After getting the beginning of last week off, they took down BYU in a three-game series winning the first two games 3-2 and 6-4 before losing the third game and the sweep 8-2 last Sunday. They lost earlier this week too against Florida International 9-7. Daniel Cuvet has been the best in the box this season batting .346 with an on-base percentage of .423 and a slugging percentage of .696. He has a team-high 17 home runs and 55 RBIs as well as 43 runs on 66 hits in 191 at-bats. Gage Ziehl has been the best Miami pitcher despite a 2-3 record. He has started 12 games with a 3.95 ERA and 73 strikeouts. He has allowed just 32 earned runs over 73 innings pitched.

The Hokies are 31-15 overall this season and just over .500 against ACC opponents at 13-11 heading into this weekend. They took down North Carolina A&T early last week before sweeping Ohio last weekend in three straight games with a run differential of 39-5. They lost earlier this week against Liberty 13-8 though snapping that winning streak.
Carson DeMartini, Chris Cannizzaro, and Eddie Micheletti Jr have all had much success at the plate this season. DeMartini leads the group in home runs and RBIs with 18 homers and 50 RBIs. Cannizzaro is hitting the best with a .357 average, and Micheletti Jr has the best on-base percentage at .480 this season.
