No. 22 Mississippi State (21-12) improved to 6-6 in the Southeastern Conference, good for third in the West Division, with a series victory last weekend. On Friday night, the Bulldogs open a three-game series with struggling Ole Miss (18-15), which has dropped seven in a row and stands just 3-9, tied for fifth in the West with LSU. Mississippi State won the national championship the last time it reached the NCAA tournament in 2021, its first title after 12 College World Series appearances. The Rebels share the same distinction, taking their first national championship in 2022 and missing last year’s NCAA tourney. They have six CWS appearances to their credit.
